These days, just about all AR-15 rifles have some sort of optic system installed—these range from night sights to holographic sights to scopes, ACOGs, and even LPVOs. In fact, it would be hard to find an AR-15 platform rifle that’s not tricked out with state-of-the-art aiming modules.

However, this certainly doesn’t mean that the era of the iron sight is all but gone. On the contrary, they are every bit as relevant today as they were back when the AR platform was first invented.

It is very simple, really. The average rifle optic—and any other electronic gadget, for that matter—is only as good as its weakest part. Ergo, should anything go wrong either at the range or even in field conditions, your otherwise fine weapon would be bereft of any functional sights. This means the weapon becomes useless for any distance beyond 10–15 feet max!

However, it is easy to avoid such a predicament. All you have to do is equip your rifle with iron sights, either as a backup iron sight (BUIS) system or even as a straight up stand-alone option.

Rest assured, your iron sights won’t give you the problems typically associated with an optical sight. BUIS are extremely easy to zero and not even remotely finicky about being dropped or working in subzero temperatures. Unlike optics, there’s no need to worry about the usual culprits, which are the bane of optical sighting systems.

You need not concern yourself about always carrying spare batteries or think about loose connectors and wires or even red dots becoming invisible in bright light. You also won’t have to take care of delicate lenses that might break when dropped or foggy optics and other issues.

Scalarworks: The PEAK Advantage!

When it comes to iron sights, you would be hard put to find one that works better than Scalarworks PEAK Sights. These AR-15 rifle iron sights have been created with cutting-edge technology on CNC machines to ensure the utmost precision. They are manufactured from the ground up from 4140H Steel and 7075 -T6 Aluminum. These metals are very light yet extremely durable materials. These materials ensure world-class quality and extreme accuracy—irrespective of the environment in which the rifle is used.

These sights maintain a highly streamlined profile. Their exceptional quality standards can be felt and seen since the control knobs are super smooth without any visible tooling marks or burrs. The good people at Scalarworks have thoughtfully rounded them off so they won’t get caught on branches, clothing, and gear. Their Type 3 Nitrate finish doesn’t reflect light and is virtually impervious to hard usage.

Their milled apertures are dull and flat-faced, so your eyes won’t instinctively sight distant objects, as with bright apertures. The adjustment wheels can be clearly heard as every click notches them in place. They are fully adjustable up to half MOA per click.

When the chips are down, you can always count on the Scalarworks PEAKS to get the job done!
